Ssang Yong Actyon – an excellent car and a special appearance on the road

I’m looking for a new car and I stopped to Ssang Yong Actyon. This is a compact SUV with a coupe profile built by the South Korean automobile manufacturer Ssang Yong Motor. Ssang Yong Actyon replaced the Ssang Yong Musso (by the way one of my neighbors has a Musso for the last 12 years and he’s very pleased of it). The name is an amalgam of the words “action” and “young”.

Ssang Yong Actyon

The single 2-liter turbo diesel engine develops 141 hp and can be associated both with manual gearbox and an automatic transmission. Top speed is 163 km / h, fuel consumption is 9.4 l/100 km city, 6.3 l/100 km extra urban and 7.8 l/100km combined. The engine and the gearbox are very reliable. The car looks good on the road and it behaves brilliantly at high speeds on rough terrain. Spare parts are not expensive comparing with Hyundai or Kia. Certainly excels in front of other Korean cars. The Latest News on Hyundai and SsangYong!

The hot news travel quick, so here are some of the most exciting novelties about the hottest Korean cars.

1. Hyundai gets a new partner to help reinvent its racing attitude. Recently a deal has been closed between Hyundai and the famous engineering design and  manufacturer Cosworth. Their forces will unite to recreate the amazing  Genesis Coupe also known as the Cosworth Genesis Racing Series (CGRS) which will be present at the upcoming 2012 SEMA show.

The upgradings are pretty impressive, since Cosworth plays with the Coupe’s 3.8-liter, direct-injected engine bringing it to 389 horsepower at 6400 rpm and a torque of 325 lb.-ft. at 5100 rpm. But this is not all that comes from under the hood or the interior. On the inside fans are welcomed with personalized steering wheel, shift knob, pedals, shift boot, sport seats and big brake system.

The exterior on the other hand, will also shine with a perfect satin-gloss blue finish, aero front splitter, gunmetal-finish lightweight racing wheels, integrated rear spoiler, and blackout rear diffuser.According to Nicole Armbrustmacher, director of marketing at Cosworth Americas : “The rear-drive Genesis Coupe is simply a great platform from which to build our ultimate Cosworth Genesis Racing Series street model. The Cosworth Genesis Racing Series Coupe truly demonstrates the purpose-built performance potential of the affordable Genesis Coupe line. We’re proud to partner with Hyundai for this ultimate racing series model.”

I think we will just have to wait and see the SEMA show. So exciting!

2. The second news comes, surprisingly from SsangYong’s garden which returns with the ultimate model of  Ssangyong e-XIV Concept presented at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. How in God’s name have I missed it? I don’t know, but it is time to find out as much information about it as possible.

From my sources, this gorgeous model pairs a 1.0-liter two-cylinder gasoline engine with a 107-horsepower electric motor and to top that up it also adds a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery. This is meant to give the vehicle a theoretical full range of about 373 miles. Rumor has it that this fiery car will be able to reach 50 miles only through its electric powers. Although a total recharge will take about 4 hours, it can also be pumped up with some energy in just 20 minutes.

The exterior is inspired from the XIV 2 CUV Coupé, which is pretty dynamic and environmentally friendly. In addition to this, the Ssang Yong concept has a high-tech solar panel and killer tires that suggest both comfort and safety. The best thing about it though, and I hope you will notice it too, is the optimism on this car. Just look at it and say it is not smiling. You can’t!

On a quick run for the interior, we find  a four-bucket-seat configuration for privacy, space and safety, carbon fiber all over the place and a deadly style that allows the driver to feel connected to the car that he or she drives. The front panels that display vital information are always clearly and easily displayed in order to ensure maximum concentration on driving.

And this is pretty much all for this week guys. The Korean cars are slowly developing and working for improved methods and concept cars that can make us the happiest owners ever. And we are not going to let them go without a proper announcement.

Have a great weekend!

Updated SsangYong at the Geneva Motor Show

Apologies in advance for forgetting to mention, the progress of this year, coming from SsangYong.

The SUV SsangYong Korando is keeping the headlines busy with its upgrading. The exterior design includes new chromed mesh grille for the front of the car and ‘contemporary looking hybrid wiper blades’.

Sounds interesting enough, right?

When talking about power, we can say that SsangYong is preserving the eco friendly path and combines the 2.0-liter petrol engine which produces CO2 emissions of 175g/km (2WD, manual) and 192g/km (AWD, manual) with the 2.0-liter 149 PS eco diesel engine which brings CO2 emissions down to 147g/km (2WD, manual) and 157g/km (AWD, manual).

Well, not much, but enough to let us know that SsangYong is still alive and plans to keep fighting its way through the tough world of smart vehicles.

SsangYong SUT at Frankfurt Motor Show 2011

This year’s Frankfurt Motor Show has surprised us all, and is still rolling. As we said in a previous article, SsangYong and Kia are until now the only Korean cars that have taken over the German show.

And SsangYong has decided to come up with a car that is not only gorgeous but also very useful, called SUT-1 pickup. Yep, is a Sports Utility Truck which you will enjoy driving due to its interior options (heated seats, audio system with Bluetooth connectivity and MP3 playback).

It also has a 2.0-liter diesel four-cylinder engine that generates 153 horsepower and is available in both six-speed manual and automatic transmission.

Perfect and accessible for everyone. Way to go SsangYong!
