May was the fourth consecutive month for Hyundai-Kia Automative Group as the top-selling Asian carmaker in Europe. Only in the European Union were sold 58,585 units in 28 countries, while the European Free Trade Association claimed in May a 4.7 percent of the market and ranked on the 9th place on the continent, the European Automobile Manufacturers Association said on Monday.
Starting wwith January, Hyundai-Kia sold 283,506 units, maintaining a healthy lead over Japan’s Toyota (256,935), to keep Hyundai Motor Europe Vice President Allan Rushforth in good humor.
Mr. Rushford said the company aims to claim 5th spot in Europe by 2013 after they sold 500,000 units per year.
On the first position in Europe is Volkswagen with 299,841 cars sold. PSA Group of Peugeot-Citroen is placed the second having a 13.5 percent share. Renault with 8.9 percent is the third, while GM is placed on the fourth position (8.8%).
